Diana West

Diana grew up in Northwest Washington. She misses the forests and ocean, although she’s happy to have escaped the rain. She came to Provo to go to BYU and never managed to escape. She has been able to travel extensively and loves trekking with Walden’s amazing students and faculty to places like India, Turkey, and Guatemala. Diana has worked in education for 24 years in both the public and private sectors, as a pre-‐school teacher, a Montessori literacy teacher, a high school English teacher, and as an instructor at Brigham Young University, where she taught Freshmen English and Instructional Methods courses to pre-‐service teachers. She earned her B.A. in English and M.Ed. in Teaching & Learning at Brigham Young University, where she completed doctoral work in Instructional Psychology, and she is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the College of Teacher Education and Leadership at Utah State University. Diana has served as Director of Walden School of Liberal Arts since it’s inception in June 2003.  She currently splits her time between Walden in Provo, and a magical historic home in Logan, Utah. She loves being at Walden and spending time with her five children and granddaughters, Eloise and Diana. By the time the Fall 2013 semester begins, she will be married to Bruce, her mad-‐scientist fiancé who teaches at USU and is doing his best to turn her into a gardener.
