Lunch & Nutrition Program

Feeding Minds & Bodies

Your child’s intellectual growth depends on having quality nutrition both at home and at school. At Walden, our Child Nutrition Specialist, Julie Powell, ensures that we offer healthy food choices for both breakfast and lunch. We also offer a free after school snack for students who stay for our CASA after school program.

Breakfast is served each day from 8:00 to 8:30 a.m. Lunch is served at different times for elementary, middle school, and high school students (see bell schedules).

Breakfast, lunch, and an after school snack are half-price or free to families who qualify. We ask that all Walden families fill out the “Free/Reduced Application” to see if you qualify. Even if your child does not eat lunch regularly (or at all), qualifying more families for fee waivers helps Walden to offer important programs such as our before and after school clubs and activities.

Lunch FAQ's

Who should apply for Free/Reduced Lunches?

We strongly suggest that all families fill out a free/reduced lunch application, even if your students do not eat school lunch. When 40% or more of Walden families qualify, the school  becomes eligible to receive funding for programs such as our 21st Century  before/after school CASA clubs and activities. These programs are free to all Walden students and support Walden families.

Qualifying for free/reduced lunch also qualifies students for activity/program fee waivers.

How do I apply?

The following instructions provide the preferred method for filling out your free/reduced price lunch application.  (This also serves as a fee waiver application.)

● After you have completed your student’s yearly online registration in the Walden’s Aspire student information system,  open your student’s profile.

● On the right side of the screen, click on “Free/Reduced Meal Application.” Aspire will walk you through the process.

You can also fill out a paper form or use the fillable PDF form below.
